Hello My name is Chris Fildes (one of Stephen's sons), and this GoFundMe is for medical bills for my dad Stephen Fildes.

Last year, my dad was diagnosed with Stage 1 Prostate Cancer. At the time, doctors advised monitoring and regular reviews. Earlier this year, during a follow up appointment, they discovered further growth. He underwent surgery to remove and test it, and his diagnosis was upgraded to Stage 2 Prostate Cancer. Because of this, he now urgently needs another surgery to completely remove his prostate in hopes of finally getting the all clear.

Outside of his health battle, my dad has spent over a decade working toward his dream by becoming an International Level Cricket Umpire. In November last year, he was given the incredible opportunity to travel to England in February to trial for National Level Umpiring. Although he didn’t make it through, just being selected was a huge milestone and the result of years of dedication and sacrifice. This dream came at a financial cost. To afford the flights and expenses, my dad was forced to sell his entire LEGO collection, something he had built over many years. Even then, it wasn’t enough and now he’s facing significant medical costs on top of everything else.

This surgery is critical. not just for his health, but for his future.
