Donald Whitmore’s family needs your help

Hi, I’m Stephen, I also go by Diesel. I created this GoFundMe to help pay for the funeral of the man who was my dad for almost 20 years, Donald Mac Whitmore Jr. He passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday the 11th, with no life insurance.

My dad had a presence that could fill any room; anyone who met him was always a friend. He knew so many people, not even my mom and I could always keep up. One of the things that brought him the most joy while he was still with us was the service of his fellow man.

In his later life, he was confined to a wheelchair, and when I first met him in person in 2005, his road-running days were behind him for the most part. Even in a wheelchair, my dad did more than most able-bodied people. He was an entrepreneur and hustler who provided for his family even at his extreme disadvantage. He loved going on walks and being in nature; he loved fishing even though he couldn't reel anymore; he loved people; he loved charity.

Donald was always a man of the people, and I just hope that for all he gave to everyone around him, for every dad joke he told, for every smile he made someone crack, for every good piece of advice he gave someone, for every 'I love you' and 'get home safe,' that nobody who came across him will forget Donald Mac Whitmore Jr.
