14 years ago our twins were born at tripler army hospital in Hawaii. 2 months after they were born our daughter began to have infantile spasms. My husband was serving in the Navy and they immediately transported her to Bethesda Maryland to confirm what my daughter thought she had was infantile spasms. Nani was placed on the ketogenic diet and steroids. We were transferred from Hawaii to Naval Medical Center San Diego where Nani became a frequent flyer we lived at Naval Medical Center San Diego. After several hospitalizations Nani was diagnosed with Lennox Gastuat Syndrome and told she was aspirating liquids. They immediately wanted to place and g-tube to assist her with feeding. My husband was deployed and that was the biggest decision I ever had to make without him. A little angel who Knew Nani pulled me aside and told me it was the best thing because nani was 1 1/2 years old and only 20 lbs. So, I did it. We didn’t know what was in store for our daughter because she wasn’t doing anything compared to her twin. She wasn’t sitting, crawling, walking or dong anything her twin was. I had to do what was best for her. Later She was diagnosed quadrapledgic with Cerebral Palsy, scoliosis, developmentally delayed and more. She is the core of our family and is the sweetest little girl you could meet. She has the ability to take your heart and make you smile. It’s becoming very difficult to lift her and to transport her to and from the car and in out the vehicle. She’s 5”4 and I’m 5”5. So not only am I carrying 73 pounds but she’s almost the same height. Please help us raise money to give her a better life and allow us to be able to transport her. Unfortunately our insurance company does not provide assistance purchasing a handicap assessable vehicle, acquiring one has become an absolute necessity. We cannot recline the seat any further back than anymore then it already is. Nani has 10 speciality providers and will be resuming PT OT and speech therapy in October. , It will cost approximately 35,000 This is very difficult to ask everyone for assistance but we have enough trying to accommodate her other needs financially. We almost lost her three times within the last year due to two bowel obstructions and a hole in her intestine . She was hospitalized for almost 3 months within a year. Our family works together as a team. Nani needs your help! A little help is better than none. With everyone’s help we can do this. It’s all about Nani and she needs us. We appreciate all your support!
