Have you ever been given an opportunity of a lifetime but did not know how to achieve it? Well, that is where I stand today. For those of you who may not know me, I am Stephanie Simoes and I am from small town, Tulare, Ca. Two major goals I have had for a long time now are to one, become a Physician Assistant, and two, Study Abroad. I have always dreamt about studying abroad, but transferring from one university to another, I did not think it was going to be possible due to units; however, that idea has changed. I have been accepted into a program where I will be given the opportunity to go abroad to a hospital-based medical internship shadowing program. I can go through, specifically, a Pre-Physician Assistant Internship in which they will have me shadow Physician Assistants and have mentors guide me through daily hospital activities. Here in the US hands-on patient interaction experiences, such as these, are very limited without some sort of certificate or license; however, certain PA schools require hands-on, clinical experience. So I thought, "What better way to go abroad than to spend it preparing for my future career, masters education, and figuring out if this career is truly for me?"
With that being said, I am trying to fundraise to go abroad for 3 weeks to Pula, Croatia this coming June of 2016 where I will be mentored through hands-on medical experience with patient contact. The costs of the trip include: round trip flight, food, accommodations, medical attire, training, and personal mentors for the full 3 weeks.
Not only will my dream of going abroad come true, but also having the experience offered by this program will help me get into graduate schools. If anyone is willing to help me raise the money to go abroad it would mean so much to me. Every little bit would help and be truly appreciated.
Thank you all so very much!
