08/02/25 Steph (Stephanie Bender) embarked on what was meant to be the trip of a life time to Greece. While exploring the Islands, an innocent wound developed into cellulitis which then turned into a serious and infectious flesh eating disease resulting in what would become multiple near death experiences.

After 4 gruelling weeks in a foreign hospital, Steph was transferred from Greece to Toronto via air ambulance - thankfully with her Mother, Pamela, by her side.

Steph has been to 4 hospitals, has had 8 blood transfusions and 8 surgeries within 8 weeks.

Steph is still fighting in the ICU at Sunnybrook under a cloud of uncertainty and little to no indication of what comes next.

Without her bravery, strength, eternal optimism and unwavering support from her Mom, family and friends -

Stephanie wouldn’t have made it this far.

Unfortunately there are many unforeseen medical expenses, loss of wages, and

everyday expenditures.
