Stephanie's Fight Against Septic Arm Infection & Neuropathy

Hello! I'm Stephanie, an EMT and Vet Tech because my passion for helping others expands to all species on this Earth! However, in doing my dream work, I suffered a severe injury to my right arm. At the time, I had absolutely no idea how crazy and long this road to recovery would be... Or the toll it would take on me both physically and mentally.

Tending to my arm and its healing has quite literally become a full time job for me. I tried my very best to continue my work and help others, but my right arm slowly started to lose fine motor function and strength despite all the physical and occupational therapy I was doing. I've lost many jobs due to the arm injury, including my job at the animal shelter where I got injured.

I've had several hospitalizations and 7 procedures on my right arm so far; all of them in relation to extreme neuropathy. I've had my first rib removed, several muscles removed and moved around in my arm, Now my right elbow joint is septic even after emergency surgery to clear the infection, and I had to get a PICC line inserted for high dosages of daily antibiotics. My body is trying its best to fight off this sepsis which has been nothing short of terribly painful and exhausting. It's destroying my body piece by piece, and as everyone knows, medical care is not cheap! Once the infection is clear, my team of doctors will reevaluate my arm to see the damages done from being septic and decide whether or not more surgery will be in the picture.

My purpose in this life is to advocate and care for others, both those with and without their own voice. Now, I've finally come to accept the fact that I too need help in order to return to doing what I love. At 23 years old, I still have the whole world in front of me; I want the ability to hold my future children, to help rescue and care for animals in need, to save those in medical emergencies, and to live life pain free and get the help I need despite the $$$ that's drowning me in debt and preventing me from doing so...
