My name is Briana Jaimes. My sister, Stephanie Goodwin, recently passed away unexpectedly, on February 5, 2024, at the age of 32. Her death is currently under investigation. Stephanie left behind 2 children, ages 5 and 3, and her family and friends. Stephanie was an amazing mother, sister, daughter, cousin, aunt, niece, and friend. She was loved dearly. Stephanie was the most kind hearted, loving, human being. She would give her last dollar to anyone in need. Stephanie loved so many things, music, singing karaoke, spending time with family, and the beach.

I have racked my brain on a way to keep her memory around. I don’t want her children to ever forget their mother, the love she had and gave, her kindness, and her willingness to help anyone she could. So I came up with the idea of establishing a Memorial Scholarship Fund in Stephanie’s honor.

Stephanie loved all animals and her favorite animal was a horse. She loved horse back riding and dreamed of owning a horse one day. I figured, why not present a Veterinary Scholarship in her name. The name of the Memorial Scholarship will be “Stephanie’s Dream Memorial Scholarship.”

The Average vet school acceptance rates are around 10-15% in the US. This is because there are only 32 vet schools in the country and there are limited seats available. The average student debt for the entire graduating veterinary class (including veterinary students without debt) was $147,258. Although veterinarian-school education comes with a high price tag, students are able to use different types of financial aid – like scholarships, grants, and work-study programs, to help reduce the costs. The funds will serve as a tribute to her memory, ensuring that she is remembered for her kindness, vibrant spirit, and love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.

This is a nonprofit Memorial Scholarship. It is our honor and privilege to be able to have her 2 children present the Stephanie’s Dream Memorial Scholarship to an uprising veterinarian/equine veterinarian. All proceeds donated will be presented to the chosen student to be used towards the cost of college tuition, books, fees, and supplies.
