Support Stephanie's 2nd Transplant

Donation protected

Stephanie MoDavis, a passionate yoga teacher and spiritual advisor who helps many, now needs your support. Stephanie was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus in 2002. Her condition turned life threatening and eventually lead to multiple organ involvement and kidney failure. She required dialysis for 3 years until her health was up to par to receive a kidney transplant. She received a kidney in 2006 were she was involved in a paired exchange program or kidney swap at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
After recovering from her procedure, she decided to make her dream a reality of becoming a full time yoga teacher. She and her husband opened YogaMos yoga and healing studio 3 years after her surgery. Her passion is teaching yoga and advising people who may be struggling with a health crisis through spiritual methods and techniques. Stephanie found the grace and passion to fight during her illness and wanted to help others find that same strength during difficult times.
She was informed a couple of weeks ago, after a serious bout of the flu virus, that her 1st transplanted kidney was in stage 4 failure and she would require dialysis treatments once again any day now. Her first experience with dialysis was complicated because Lupus had damaged her vascular system. She is in search of a kidney donor and help assisting with her medical bills and also her donor's medical bills.
Stephanie is again being followed by Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is currently not teaching and preparing for dialysis. She will require at least a few months off to find the proper donor and heal from surgery. Her donor will also have to be out of work for a number of weeks.
Many people are misinformed about being a potential donor. Everyone except for a small percentage of people are born with 2 kidneys. If healthy, one can easiely live with one kidney. The kidney can actually grow to compensate for the donated kidney. Donation is safe in a healthy person and you have the opportunity to save someones life. More information is listed below.
She so desperately wants to continue to be of service to others on their journey. Please help Stephanie spread the word to help her get back on her feet as soon as possible. She will be forever grateful for any donation you may have to offer.
It is important to Stephanie to offer sites with valuable information regarding how yoga can be of benefit during times of crisis. Also, information regarding organ donation and becoming a donor. These sites can answer common questions and dispel myths in regards to being a donor.
Lastly, information regarding the innovative options Johns Hopkins Hospital has to offer for those who are in need of a life saving organ.
