Stephanie Boyd NEEDS HELP NOW
Donation protected
UPDATE: After 4 months of waiting and worrying our prayers were finally answered. Our daughter, Stephanie Boyd, received a liver transplant on January 7 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA.
God bless the woman who gave her organs to many people so they may live.
Stephanie, post-transplant, is home recovering nicely and hopes to return to work this fall.
My name is Mike LaBella, longtime Haverhill resident and reporter for The Eagle-Tribune and Haverhill Gazette, and I want to tell you about my stepdaughter Stephanie and why this GoFundMe page has been created.
Stephanie Radar Boyd, 42, a wife and mother of three young children, was diagnosed with a failing liver. She is a graduate of Haverhill High School Class of ’98 and is a teacher at Lamprey Elementary School in Raymond, NH, but previously taught in Haverhill for 15 years.
She has been informed she needs a liver transplant soon; her prognosis is not good, and she doesn’t have a lot of time. Her doctors have told her to act with urgency and strongly advocate for herself to find a living donor. The reason for my daughter’s liver failure is still unclear. After multiple blood tests, doctors are moving forward with a liver biopsy to determine the cause. She will soon be transferring her care from Lahey Burlington to UMass Memorial Medical Center Worcester.
MY ANGEL
In 2008, I needed a kidney transplant to continue living, she stepped forward, was tested, and found to be a perfect match. It was a huge deal for her to be a perfect match without a bloodline, a divine intervention. Stephanie fearlessly underwent the surgery and gave a kidney to me, saving my life. Well, now my angel needs our help to locate her angel.
To focus on her health, Stephanie is about to take a leave of absence from her teaching position in Raymond. This will leave her without pay and health insurance for herself and her family. Shortly after being out of work, she will then face expensive Cobra Health Insurance costs ($2,200+ per month) just to keep her health insurance and dental. Her family will also be faced with regular household expenses, orthodontic care for her three children, as well as numerous trips to UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, MA and/or the Lahey Hospital, Burlington, MA.
Stephanie’s husband Jeff is doing all he can to support the family, but he also needs to be available to his wife and three children; By their side is where he needs to be.
Our entire family and circle of friends are praying that people in the community and beyond will help my daughter Stephanie and her family. Stephanie and her husband have always been there to help others.
Today, I humbly ask all of you to consider donating funds, the family needs to survive through this. My daughter’s life is at stake, and as she is my angel; I’d like to assist in finding her angel.
I also ask if YOU would consider being tested and being her living angel. Sadly, family members are not a match. Stephanie’s blood type is O Positive (O+. )
If you are type O and would consider being a living donor, please contact Mike LaBella Haverhill, MA.
On behalf of our family thank you for your support, kindness, generosity, prayers, & love.
