Stephanie Tino Mallinga - In Memoriam
On September 10, 2020, Stephanie Tino Hilda Mallinga passed away in Texas City, Texas at the age of 39.
Stephanie was an erudite from birth, after early achievement of pronouncing an exceptionally lengthy name as a toddler, she continued to impress intellectually and achieve academically across her lifetime.
While she later received her medical degree and a Master's in Public Health, Stephanie's higher education started at Smith College in Amherst, MA. Stephanie pursued her desire to be a doctor while participating avidly in the school’s African and Caribbean Students' Association. The group of young women she met through the association created a foundation within which Stephanie thrived, enjoying the fellowship of friendship, science and connecting with her East African identity in a new way. Through these experience, Stephanie deepened her connection with STEM in a context she loved.
In celebration of her life, her family invites you to contribute to a small grant which will go towards supporting other Smith College students in the African and Caribbean Students’ Association beginning their path to excellence in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
While we are unable to come together in person to celebrate Stephanie’s beautiful life, we couldn’t be more grateful for your generous contribution toward helping us continue to further her impact with a donation that will directly benefit the community where Stephanie found her purpose.
Warmly,
The Mallinga Family
