Stephanie & Orion Memorial Fund for Jason Dalchau

Brilliant, quick witted, and a hilariously dry sense of humor. These are just a few words that describe Jason Russell Dalchau and barely encompass the large void that will be felt by his sudden and tragic passing.

We tragically lost Jason Dalchau on the morning of June 22 after a hospital stay and complications that developed from acute pancreatitis and sepsis. He leaves behind his sweetheart of 15 years that he met while attending Texas A&M University and his 6-month old son, Orion Russell Dalchau. Orion brought him so much joy and was one of the last people that he spoke about before his untimely passing.
Every person who knew Jason was touched by him and he was a friend to anyone who crossed his path. Jason made an incredible impact on the lives of many throughout his 17-year career in medicine. He started his journey with the Texas A&M Emergency Care Team and Texas A&M EMS, worked in the Emergency Room at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas, all the way to his current position at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon where he was able to work with his passion in cardiology. For his family, there was no better dad and husband; he enjoyed going hiking and adventuring, preparing and celebrating life with gourmet meals, and a general zest and passion for life. He was a man of many passions – food, planes, biking, science, debate, deep thought, and stimulating intellectual conversations.

We ask that you give generously to support Jason’s family!  He worked so hard to provide the best he could for Stephanie and his new son Orion. Stephanie was only recently able to return to work after having Orion. She is now faced with childcare issues while working as an ER nurse. Couple this with being a new single mother while living away from family accompanied by the hardship of determining what life will look like in this new period. Supporting Stephanie and Orion helps each of us carry on Jason’s legacy through school and in life.

At this time, we are starting with a goal for this fundraiser of $10,000. If we are able to meet our first goal of $10k to help support Stephanie and Orion with medical expenses, memorial costs, and the transition during this time, we will set a second stretch goal to provide an additional $10k to assist Stephanie with a college tuition fund for Orion in memory of his father and his intellectual pursuits. Jason you will not be forgotten; fly high until we can meet again! Although you may not physically be here with us, you will forever remain in our hearts.

Jason’s community wants to support this family now and forever with love and friendship, a very small request compared to the friendship and community Jason shared with so many. As a friend is quoted as saying “It was truly an honor to have known and worked beside Jason Dalchau. The universe really screwed up with this loss.”
Even if you are only to give a small amount, or do not have funds at this time, please consider sharing with all of your friends, family, and contacts so that Jason’s memory and legacy can live on.
