It’s times like these when “it takes a village,” strikes home.  Many of you have taken Steph Schwartz’ yoga classes in person or online, through Gaia or Zoom, and/or sung with her at her various Kirtan’s.  Her life and her work has been and is dedicated to our well-being and she’s done that through her love of life!  Now, she could use our support.

Steph was in a BASE jumping accident early Sunday morning, August 24th. Steph's brother was with her in the hospital and wrote, that after hours of rescue work, she was airlifted and taken to a hospital in Denver. On Monday morning, August 25th, what they knew was that Steph had many broken bones and a concussion, but she was conscious and able to talk - a great thing!

As her brother summarized, Steph’s parachute didn’t fully open and she hit the side of the mountain with the right side of her body. She has fractures all along that side, which includes her foot, ankle, tibia, knee, femur, hip, ribs and both wrists.  She also has facial fractures and lost some of her front teeth.  The "bad" list may seem extensive, but the "good" list includes a miraculously clean CT scan with no brain injuries (thank you helmet!) and no internal damage (i.e., organs).  Unbelievably, and yet in true Steph fashion, the night of her accident, she was conversing with the medical staff until she started getting painkillers.

Steph was released from the hospital three weeks ago and is now recuperating back home.  Her recovery is a long one.  She will not be weight-bearing on her right leg for 3 months or be able to lift much of anything with her arms for that time as well. She misses her community: teaching, singing and gathering us together as she’s done for so many years. Please send her healing, positive energy.

She has given so much and done so much for us, unconditionally. If you feel moved, this fund can give back to her and help cover some of her expenses.  Many thanks for considering!
