Who are we: Well like to call ourselves “The A Team” - but we are the Cath Lab at THHBP! We are family, and family doesn’t let each other fight alone.

Who She Is: Steph Kersey ~ Always the nurse, and never the patient. She is a wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and badass Cath Lab RN. Lover of Ole Miss , Fantasy Football , NCAA March Madness, Texas Rangers, country music, her family and this cath lab!!! On most days you can bet that she would be working late, rolling into a STEMI in scrubs she slept in to make it on time, or .

What went down: Steph was feeling under the weather. Like every good nurse, she worked until she was miserable. Plus, she was probably tired of hearing a couple cardiac nurses try to diagnose her problem. The news was shocking- Tuesday she saw her family physician and got a CT. That Friday she was in surgery.

What we know: Stage 4 Colon Cancer- colon resection , complete hysterectomy, she started chemotherapy 2 weeks ago. Her first round of treatments will be for three months and then they will re-evaluate at that point.

How can you help: Thanks for asking! Steph is returning to work the week of October 18th. She is going stir crazy and let’s be honest you can’t keep a good girl down. We all know the expense of running a household, plus Steph and Kirk are small business owners and this illness has really thrown them some challenges with trying to run a business and take care of our girl. Paying for cancer and medical treatments takes things to a whole new level. And can interfere with coping, recovering and healing. This is where we come in!!!! This is our opportunity to show Steph how much she is loved. An opportunity to give back to someone who has devoted her life to caring for others.
