Steph joined the PHM and PMHI sections in August with a passion for improving the care of behavioral health patients and health equity for all vulnerable populations. She has quickly become a connected and valued member of our section but her move from Ohio has been tumultuous.
Shortly after purchasing a home in Park Hill, the home was flooded during the August 7th storm; both the newly installed roof and the adjacent city storm drain failed. The home is now uninhabitable due to 75% flooding, mold and asbestos. For the last month, Steph and her daughter Anna have been living out of a hotel while Steph works hard in her new roles, Anna transitions to a new school, and their beloved dog Ollie couch surfs with friends.
Despite her best efforts, Steph has been unable to obtain any restitution from her insurance company, the roofing company or the city who each point their fingers at each other. She is looking at a long road ahead both to arrange the expensive necessary repairs and fight an uncertain legal battle.
Any support you can provide during this time is deeply appreciated. Help us welcome Steph to our section and her home in a way Colorado's weather did not.
