Stepaniak Family Fire Relief
Donation protected
Last week my sister's family in Oregon experienced what would be a worst nightmare for most - a fire destroying the home they were living in.
Faulty wiring in the walls started the fire. My sister was about to head out to run errands, but thankfully her youngest smelled something and the family began searching for the source only to discover the back of their home burning. The fire has left the home they were renting uninhabitable. They are still muddling through the remains of the fire, but they have lost a considerable amount to not only the fire but also smoke damage.
My sister and her family are always remarkable at navigating incredibly stressful circumstances. And as she fully acknowledges there are so many positives in such a traumatic, life changing situation. Despite there being countless positives (mainly that no one was physically harmed), they are still left picking up the pieces of their previous life and trying to rebuild from scratch. Many have asked my sister how they can help - I think it's hard to process when you are experiencing something so upending and I know this will take days, weeks, months for them to fully process all that was lost. If you are able to donate to help provide a bridge for my sister and her family as they navigate the various costs that will not be covered by insurance as well as unforeseen costs, we would be so appreciative.
PLEASE NOTE: this fire was unrelated to the fires in the West right now. It was a wiring issue in the home they were renting.
