Step up for Stef! Join her breast cancer battle!

On January 6th, Stefanie was diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Doctors discovered two tumors in her right breast as well as one "satellite tumor nodule" in her armpit/lymph node where cancer had already begun to spread. Further scans have shown that the cancer has also begun to break through the chest wall and has possibly begun to enter lung. As her particular cancer is very aggressive, growing and changing very quickly, her medical team has started her on an immediate medical plan to begin fighting the cancer. She will be having a port put in on Jan 19th for injections, chemo, and blood draws, and then she will begin her first round of chemotherapy directly after receiving the port. She will also be undergoing a mastectomy soon to remove the tumors, possibly a double mastectomy, and eventually radiation therapy.

Stefanie is a single mom who has worked her whole adult life to support her two kids, Alec who just turned 19 and Kenley who turns 6 at the end of January. She spent over four years saving up to buy her first house for her family in 2021. Now that she has started down this long road to beating cancer, the medical bills are already beginning to add up, putting everything she has worked so hard for in jeopardy. Without health insurance and with no paid time off or sick leave, the medical expenses are another battle to be fought alongside the cancer itself. While she is applying for various assistance programs, not all the bills will be covered and all the day-to-day expenses such as gas to get to doctors appointments, groceries, mortgage payments, utilities and everything else still need to be paid.
