I am Matthew Hansen, a Berlin-based photographer, and this project grew out of several years of photographing, reflecting, and learning to trust uncertainty.

Journey Into The Unknown is a photobook developed over several years as an exploration of self-identity, uncertainty, and becoming through photography. This project traces my path from an enthusiastic beginner to a photographer learning to trust intuition, process, and not-knowing.

The book brings together multiple photographic series, reflective texts, and poems, unfolding as a slow, deliberate sequence rather than a fixed method. It is structured as a journey — not toward resolution, but toward attentiveness.

The work has been largely realised through my own unpaid artistic, editorial, and design labour. This campaign supports the final production stage: printing the first edition, professional copyediting, translation, and distribution.
