Over the last 25 years One Fair World, a fair-trade non-profit business located in Salem, Oregon, has provided $2.5 million in income to some of the world’s poorest people by selling products they make or grow. We have also increased local awareness of global poverty through community education and popup sales in varied locations, including senior living centers.

Although our mission is primarily global, we are also active contributors to the local community. We do profit-sharing sales. We provide extensive volunteer experiences, some of which are geared to helping local students with learning challenges gain skills for employment. We have chosen to locate downtown and have been an active supporter of downtown activities.

Purchases through our store help artisans across the globe:

*Buying a pair of Conscious Step socks is a triple win: getting a cool pair of socks, supporting fair trade practices, and each purchase gives back to an organization like protecting the rain forest or supporting mental health initiatives.

*Purchasing any beautiful Friendsheep wool product made in Nepal supports underprivileged women and disabled artisans who are striving for a better life for their families. PLUS a tree is planted for every item sold and 20% of their proceeds goes to rescues, ocean conservation and environmental nonprofits.

*Any purchase of a recycled sari product supports The Asha Project which was created with a vision to empower women in India to help break the cycle of poverty that has a hold on their families and communities.

As we face the reality of increased costs and local/national/global issues, the board of directors has decided to reach out to the community for direct financial support to continue our work. Our continued existence allows us to support artisans – many of them women – from emerging countries of the world.
