Hi! My name is Christopher. I have been an indoor cycling instructor for over eight years and am constantly pushing myself, as well as my friends, family, and class participants, to do challenging things, even when we don't think we have anything left to give of ourselves. I believe that part of doing difficult or challenging things is acknowledging where we are today versus where we started, and knowing that a previous version of ourselves once wished and dreamed of being where we are today. However, I believe the most important part of doing difficult things is to understand that we don't need to know what the next steps look like to take them, and that small steps travel in the same direction as big steps. Step by step, one foot in front of the other, day by day, progress is progress.
That got me thinking: I love adventure, I enjoy the unknown, and I want to put my words into action. Instead of just talking about approaching and doing challenging things, I want to do them in real life. So, here we go, I am going to challenge myself to hike the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro, step by step, one foot in front of the other, day by day, not knowing what comes next, until I reach the summit at 19,341 feet.
By embarking on this Kilimanjaro Hike, I am aiming to raise funds for World Central Kitchen. This organization does incredible work worldwide, providing emergency food relief to areas affected by war, conflict, disasters, and climate crises. I believe that we can do difficult things, and helping those in need should be the easiest thing we can do. I kindly ask that you consider donating anything you can to an organization that helps people all over the world who need it most.
