STEM Scholarship for ALL Children

Greetings,

I am Nicole Green, an educator, activist, founder, and passionate advocate for the education of young individuals, particularly those who have traditionally been left behind due to academic challenges, learning disabilities, and/or institutional failures.

Upon starting my journey as an educator at Rio Saldo College back in 2011, it quickly became evident that some of my students were facing significant challenges in reaching higher education goals. Later in my career, I moved into K-12 education and noticed the nexus of educational hardships begins in elementary school. My investigation revealed that many students weren't receiving individualized instruction to meet their needs and parents couldn't afford additional resources that would make them competitive as they move into adulthood. This financial burden, encompassing tuition, specialized learning opportunities, field trips, and afterschool STEM programs, is a widespread issue affecting countless students nationwide.

At LFEC/STREAM Academy we focus on science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math to build academic success for all students. Numerous families rely on state scholarships that do not cover the cost of programming for families grappling with issues ranging from food and housing insecurity to various other obstacles. Our children are future scientists, engineers, leaders, and teachers who only need the opportunity to learn and shine! Some families bravely juggle the responsibilities of parenthood and work alongside volunteering their time to support students, while others battle daily to keep their children in a program that will change their lives. Our students have gone from C/D students to district science fair winners and I couldn't be more proud. Committed to the success of my students, I felt compelled to contribute in any way I could.

Let me share how this program operates:

This year, my goal is to raise $100,000, benefiting approximately 60 students with funds distributed to families based on financial needs. Each family completes a form and provides documentation to verify family financial needs. This assistance extends beyond the classroom, covering Zoo School, STEM/Art competitions, and a comprehensive afterschool program.

Sadly, the demand is immense, and we are often forced to turn away families due to limited funds. Some families have limited options and losing this program can be life-altering as their needs go far beyond what traditional programs can offer. Therefore, the more funds we raise, the more students we can aid.

Many families have shared that STREAM has been transformative, significantly enhancing their academic performance and reducing academic trauma in kids so school becomes a safe and fun place to learn. I sincerely hope you'll take a moment to contribute whatever you can, regardless of the amount. Our students deeply appreciate your kindness.
