Stem cells for SCI
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I want to start this request out by giving a huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated to me in my initial GoFundMe right when my injury occured.
I am proud to say that all of those donations have gotten my family and I through this past year and the funds were able to go towards:
-my hospital fees
-my medical transport flight from New York to Atlanta
-my 4 month long therapy treatment at the Shepard Center in Atlanta, GA (top in the country)
-flights for my family to come down to visit/care for me
-my continued therapy at home in Charlottesville
-and all of the medical devices and supplies that have helped me thrive at home
Without your donations, I definitely would not have had the opportunity to improve as much as I have and I am forever grateful for all of your love and support.
At the time of my injury, I was paralyzed from the neck down but I am happy to tell you that I am now able to function as an independent adult.
If you personally know me, you know that prior to my injury, fitness was a huge part of my life and it truly made me happy. Although I am able to function and do all of my activities of daily living, I am no where close to where I used to be and don’t have a great chance of getting there at this point.
This week I found out that I have been selected as a candidate to receive stem cell injections in Minnesota.
The therapy consists of 30 injections down my cervical spine with the goal of improvement in my motor and sensory function as well as my bowel and bladder function.
This therapy is pricey and is not covered by insurance but it is an opportunity that will give me the greatest chance to become stronger again.
While I feel so uncomfortable asking anything more from you guys, any donation would help to make this trip possible.
Much love,
