Support Kimberley’s Parkinson's Journey

Hello Friends, Family, and Supporters,

My name is Leeann, and I am reaching out with an abundance of love and hope for our incredible mother, Kimberley Riggs, who is fearlessly battling Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s is a progressive disorder that slows movement in the body causing tremors, stiffness, and difficulty with coordination and balance. She was diagnosed last fall, but the doctors believe she has had it for 10 or so years, as this disease is complicated to diagnose. She has been on trials of medication since finding out, but they will unfortunately stop working overtime.

If you know Mom, you know how stubborn she is when she has her mind set to something. Despite facing this uphill battle, she has been determined to overcome the limitations Parkinson’s imposes (and will impose) on her daily life. After extensive research and consultations, we’ve learned about the potential benefits of stem cell treatments in alleviating some of the symptoms and providing a renewed sense of hope. Stem cell therapy aims to reduce and modulate the immune system and repair damaged or lost dopamine producing cells in the brain. Unfortunately, these treatments are not available in the United States, as they are non-FDA approved, and she will have to travel internationally.

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign with the goal of raising funds to give Mom the opportunity to undergo stem cell therapy. This is not a cure, because there isn’t one. This is for a better quality of life for herself and the time spent with her friends and family.
