My new rescue dog, Stella, needs surgery for her leg. I knew she had a mostly-healed tibial fracture as reported by the shelter, but when we received the x-rays a few days after bringing her home, we saw that she had a completely fractured femur as well! We suspect she was hit by a car when she was living as a stray before being picked up and brought to the shelter. We thought we were going to have to amputate, but Stella loves to run and jump and has been mostly weight-bearing to this point.

We were finally able to get in for a surgical consultation, and it turns out that she CAN keep the leg! However, the cost for the surgery is $10k plus $2k for the post-op physical therapy and medication. It's going to be a long road to recovery, but my sweet girl has so much life left in her. Please help us improve her quality of life, because she has certainly improved mine.
