Hello, my name is Amanda. I’m a childhood, best friend of Becca, Stella’s Mother. I have created a GoFundMe for Stella to help relief some financial stress off the family during this challenging time.

Stella’s Journey:

Stella is a 5 year old girl battling cancer. In November her family learned that she had a Pre Sacral Mass on her tailbone after getting an MRI. The MRI was requested after months of pain almost everyday in her lower back. She initially was being treated for a germ cell tumor and fought through 3 rounds of chemotherapy, so gracefully. Each round of chemotherapy has been a 5 day at Devos Children’s Hospital. After her treatment; Imaging results showed the tumor had shrank nearly in half, making it safer for her to under go surgery. In February, her surgery was completed. The tumor and her tailbone were successfully removed and Stella is recovering well. After almost four weeks of waiting on biopsy results and the biopsy being sent to Indiana University for a 2nd opinion. The results came back that there was viable cancer on the margins. A new battle has begun for Stella, to fight another type of cancer. The results show another type of cancer other than Germ cell tumor. A teratoma with associated somatic-type malignancy: differentiated primitive neuroectodermal tumor. With these results comes more chemotherapy. A different chemotherapy regimen than Stella under went prior to surgery. The cancer Stellas facing is rare. Her case has been unique and complex from the start. Now, Stella’s medical team must create the best possible treatment plan for her. Her family is waiting for treatment details.

Stella’s Support System:

Stella has two siblings, her big brother Kamdyn who’s 11 and a big sister Emery who will soon be 10. This diagnosis has impacted Stella’s family tremendously. Everyone prayed for negative margins. Unfortunately, the battle continues to strive for that result. Her parents try to find relief from the stress of having to care for their daughter during this difficult time and still remain strong for the other kids. No one could’ve prepared for this! As they continue to stand on their faith, we are hopefully others will help lift some financial burdens off their plate.
