Hello and thanks for taking your time in reading this and hearing my plea.
My name is Stella Marie. I am in my early 50's. Like everyone else living a normal day to day life, I never once thought cancer would visit me one day and change my life forever.
I have ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA CANCER. It is an acute form of leukemia, or cancer of the white blood cells. The lymphoblasts in the bone marrow continuously multiply, causing damage and death by inhibiting the production of normal cells: red and white blood cells and platelets in the bone marrow, thus spreading to other organs. This chemo therapy and soon a bone marrow transplant can help save my life. I also receive an Intrathecal Chemotherapy which is given through a lumbar puncture (spinal tap). This is excruciatingly painful and extremely strong and intense; it gives me severe headache (as if my head is about to explode), nausea, and vomiting. On top of that my spine and my whole back severely hurt for days. Not only did I lose my hair but some of the medications I take sometimes give me severe allergic reactions too; my body is covered in bumps and welts. I am very happy if I can get even just 3 hours of sleep each day. And because of my will to live, I can take the pain this chemo gives me in any intensity just so I can have a second chance in life to grow older with my children, grandchild, family, and friends.
I’m still confined at the hospital continuously receiving chemo therapy until I have completed the 8-chemo treatments required. After that hopefully I can find a bone marrow match for my transplant. I am registered at the City of Hope ( http://www.cityofhope.org/) they informed me that I’m a good candidate for the stem cells and bone marrow transplant.
Due to my illness I have not worked since. The bills are accumulating daily including medical bills. This is why I turned to www.gofundme.com and I humbly ask for your help. With this I am able to pay some of my medical bills and also keep the small room I am renting each month I call home.
My main concern is the medical bills which the amount increases as long as I'm in treatment. I only know how to think positively and look forward to a time when I’m on the other end of this when my cancer is in remission and I can look back with gratitude to all those who supported me.
Your help is wholeheartedly appreciated and no amount is too small as it goes a long way for me.
Thank you for hearing my plea and God bless you All.
Sincerely,
Stella Marie
