This Go Fund Me is for 1 of the greatest people I know! Stella is a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend.She is also a hard-working dedicated teacher. Stella goes above and beyond in everything she does & always with a smile on her face.
For the past 11 years, Stella has been ill. After years of trying different doctors and treatments, she was diagnosed with Meniere's disease in 2012. Meniere's disease is an inner ear disease that causes vertigo and leads to permanent hearing loss. There is NO cure.
In 2013, she had a Gentamicin shot in the left ear to treat the Meniere's. This shot aided with the vertigo; however, caused permanent hearing loss. Stella has now been diagnosed with bilateral Meniere's and autoimmune inner ear disease. She continues to endure severe episodes of vertigo in which she spends hours spinning and vomiting followed by a migraine. She has permanent hearing loss in the left ear and the hearing in her right ear fluctuates greatly. She also has to deal with tinnitus which is a ringing or roaring within her ears. Stella has tried many doctors and treatments. She has received numerous steroid injections in both ears, been on countless biological meds, and takes high dose oral steroids. Nothing is working! Despite all of this, Stella has remained strong and optimistic!!
There is a stem cell therapy that has been showing signs of success; however, this treatment is NOT covered by insurance.The therapy requires her own stem cells to be harvested, cleaned, and then re-infused into the bloodstream. While the treatment shows promise, it is NOT a cure. This is a 2 year process that will then need to be repeated. As Stella already has permanent hearing loss in the left ear, she must wear hearing aids. The insurance will only cover a portion of the cost. Altogether, Stella is looking at $18,500 in medical costs. $14,500 for right now and another $4000 over the next 2 years. God willing if this works, she will then need to repeat the process and the cost.
