Hi Friends,
My name is Keeley, and I am the auntie to 4 year old Stella and the sister to her mother, Kyley.
Today, Stella’s life is going to change as she is getting a Kidney Transplant. This is something that we have been hoping and praying for. After Stella was born, the nurses began to notice she was urinating too much and her lab work was abnormal, so she was airlifted to Seattle Children’s Hospital . Stella spent the first 4-6 months in the NICU and hospital where she was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease – both of her kidneys were determined to be spongey and nonfunctional. At 11 months she was started on PD Dialysis (Peritoneal Dialysis) for 10-12 hours every single night – she is basically tethered to a machine while she sleeps while it filters the body of toxins, etc. To complicate things, Stella is also blind, so finding things to entertain her through hospital visits is challenging.
Stella and Kyley will be staying in Seattle for an extended period of time – 3-5 months as they work on anti-rejection, anti-infection, blood flow studies, etc. after Stella gets her transplant!
Stella is an amazing little girl with a bright future. We are so thankful to all the people involved in this transplant operation from the multiple donors, skilled physicians, nurses, coordinators, social workers, support from family and friends, etc – you all matter! We are in hopes that you can possibly contribute to helping Stella and Kyley have a smooth transition while in Seattle – funds and donations will be used for meals, toiletries, gas, toys, etc.
We appreciate your continued thoughts, support and prayers and we promise that we will keep you updated along the way!
