Support Evan Steinkoler’s Debut Album

My name is Evan Steinkoler. I'm a 20 year old pianist, vocalist, and composer currently studying Jazz Piano and Arts Technology at Northwestern University.

This is my debut album, Said & Done.

Said & Done is an album about duality. With it, I seek to find a balance between disparate parts of myself and my world, to find peace and meaning in the life of duality that I live as a musician and engineer, a pianist and singer, between the emotive and cerebral, and in the realm between jazz and singer-songwriter music. The album is an eclectic mix of swing, pop, ballads, funk, and weird that I hope will offer a snapshot of a world that has been in constant flux as I’ve come of age.

The album will be recorded August 2026 at 2200 Studios (Formerly The Plant) in Sausalito, California, with a release planned for December. I am bringing some of the finest Bay Area musicians in jazz and pop together for this project, including:

Mads Tolling (Violin)
Steve Bissinger (Guitar)
Suede Avery (Vocals)

And an incredible production team:

Dan Feiszli (Engineering and Mixing)
Michael Romanowski (Mastering)
Michele Friedman (Graphic Design)
Taylor Eigsti (Consulting)
Susan Muscarella (Consulting)
Mitchell Linden (Videography)
Griffin Kamm (Videography)

Much of the production will be donated in-kind by these individuals, and I am deeply grateful for their generosity and support, without which this project would not be possible.

Between musicians' fees, mixing/mastering, studio rental, CD replication, and a radio campaign, the total cost of producing the album will be $15,000. I will be covering costs beyond what I raise in this campaign out of pocket.

My whole life I have been surrounded and uplifted by an extensive musical community. Mentors at Cazadero Performing Arts Family Camp, the California Jazz Conservatory, Stanford Jazz Workshop, and my current home at Northwestern University have helped me grow into the musician I've become and understand the value of music in creating community. I hope that through this music I can share some of the same connection and inspiration they have brought me.

Thank you so much for supporting me on my musical journey!

About Me:
I've been studying piano since I was seven years old and have always been drawn to the collaborative and improvisational nature of jazz music. I am currently a member of the Northwestern University Jazz Orchestra and Small Ensemble, Steinkoler Trio, and am frequently involved with various theatrical and musical projects.

I have performed at jazz festivals across Europe including the Umbria, North Sea, and Vienne Jazz Festivals, and at the Bay Area’s premier music venues, including Yoshi’s, the Freight & Salvage, and Mr. Tipple’s, as well as at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. I have worked as a teaching artist at Stanford Jazz, Cazadero Performing Arts Family Camp, and Oakland Summer Jazz. I was the recipient of the Dick Conte Piano Scholarship Award at the California Jazz Conservatory in 2023, and was awarded a scholarship to the Stanford Jazz Institute as the top soloist at the 2024 Campana Jazz Festival.
