Stefs fight to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my is Mercedes I'm Stefs sister in law.
On July 25th, 2022 our beautiful girl was hanging out with her friends and unexpectedly decided she was going home. She called mama chele very disoriented and confused, she thought she was home. Her mom and step dad went looking for her and found her in a field and took her straight to the emergency room. It is truly a miracle that Stef was able to make that call to her mom.
At the hospital they put her on a ventilator and she had a CT scan and found a brain bleed. Arteriovenous malformation AVM is what they found, this is an abnormal connection between arteries and veins, usually in the brain or spine and is congenital. CRMC made the decision that they needed to do emergency surgery to try and stop the bleeding and remove the blood clot before life flighting her to Denver, CO. This action the hospital made saved her, so that she would make it to Swedish. Upon her arrival they found more bleeding that was so severe it was entering her ventricals in her brain. She went back to surgery and they are hopeful that they removed the AVS, the hematoma, and blood clot.
Stef has a traumatic brain injury that may have caused some paralysis, and damage to her speech and everything else that we still don't know how sever it is. Any financial help would go to her mom being able to stay by her side in Colorado to support her. Lodging is $179 a night and that doesn't include meals for her. Traveling back and forth is also extremely expensive for our family at this time. This is an extremely scary thing to have to go through and if I can help find a way through our community to support my family I will.
I will update everyone through here the more that we find out and what recovery will look like
