Stefie Fejes Beach Volleyball World Championships

Hi everyone!

I am Stefie, a 17 year-old, Year 12 student and passionate beach volleyball athlete who loves to travel and compete.

I have been selected to represent Australia at the 2022 Under-19 Beach Volleyball World Championships to be held in Izmir, Turkey, in September! This is very exciting as my beach volleyball partner and I are the only team from Australia who has gained a spot for the main draw.

This year I have the challenge of completing my high school studies whilst aiming to perform my best at the World Championships. Although I have been working and saving money, the trip itself cost $6000 which I'm required to pay fully. In preparation for the competition, I am required to travel to the Australian Institute of Sport and Queensland Academy of Sport where the senior women's national program is based, which will add extra cost to the trip. Although it is only a 4-day competition, due to high airfares and preparation training, the expenses for my trip are very big.

Beach volleyball is a self-funded sport so any support is amazing!

I have had the privileged to represent my country at both a senior and junior level. This trip will help me towards my goal of representing Australia at the Olympics and give me an opportunity to verse the other athletes in my age from all over the world.

This past year I was fortunate enough to have a senior domestic beach volleyball season, playing with and against the top women’s teams in Australia and achieving podium finishes. Since the end of the season, I have been ranked 1st in the Australian Women’s beach volleyball ranking.
