Hi friends and family. My Auntie, Julie Roberts and I have joined forces to start this GoFundMe for our amazing sister and niece Stefanie, a 58 year old L3-S1 paraplegic. She became a paraplegic at age 15 due to a drunk driver. Please help us raise funds to purchase a wheelchair-assisted device, and a new wheelchair and provide for her upcoming medical needs. We want to help keep her independent so she can continue to work and be involved in what she loves, helping others and being a loving grandmother, mother, sister, niece, daughter and friend to many. She has been hospitalized for the last several weeks because she recently suffered a deep tissue injury resulting in an entire heel wound... in which all of the epidermis and some of the subcutaneous tissue was damaged and developed Eschar. In addition, three months ago, she had an extensive right shoulder reconstruction. As a result of the heel would, she was forced to use her wheelchair exclusively. Using only the manual wheelchair for mobility, the shoulder was re-wounded. She underwent debridement surgery to remove eschar and some of the subcutaneous tissue into the fat layer had to be removed. It is uncertain how the healing will go for both of these injuries. She must stay off her foot to allow healing. With a wheelchair-assisted device she would be able to let her shoulder heal and will enable her to stay off her feet. It is unclear what other medical procedures will be required in the near future. Please share with anyone you think might be able to help our girl Stef!
