Stefanie & Scott O'Donnell Help Fund
Donation protected
Our hearts go out to Stefanie and Scott O’Donnell, (known to most of you as head chef and topnotch guide at Royal Wolf Lodge). Most of us have had a hard time due to the pandemic, but Stefanie and Scott have had a very rough road for the last several years. Stefanie was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019 and has fought a difficult battle, however, they were crushed when told the cancer had widely spread, and sadly Stefanie does not have a lot of time left.
The original plan was for Scott to continue guiding at RWL this season and would bring Stef with him. We were going to make life comfortable for Stef, upgrading their cabin, and most of all Scott would be able to be with Stef. Some of our wonderful and caring Doctor friends in Anchorage volunteered to help with any complications that might occur, even giving the option of sending her into Anchorage if she did need hospital care, with several people offering their homes for any recovery needed.
Unfortunately, it looks like that won’t be happening, as her condition has worsened and it is no longer practical, or advisable for her to travel. Scott needs to stay home in Oregon this season, to be with Stefanie.
Throughout this difficult time, Stef has been at Scott’s side, still helping with their Speywater Fishing Lodge, cooking and baking her amazing food. It seems like every chance they were given to enjoy a small road trip together, or some quality alone time, complications from cancer would cut their trip short and Stef would end up back in the hospital. Some of those last wishes and dreams won’t be happening, but they can spend Stef’s final days together.
The O’Donnell’s do not have the resources for Scott to stop working and just enjoy their last few weeks or months together. They definitely need his income, but of course, he chooses to stay with Stefanie. His salary at RWL has always been an important step in paying their mortgage and living expenses. As many of us know, illness can put a heavy burden on our finances.
We have started a fund to help them out through this tough time. So they don’t have to worry about losing their home, providing food for the table, and they can be together, concentrating on what is important. We are asking if you might kindly donate any amount to help them out, it would be so appreciated.
