I'm asking gofundme to help my brother Stefan.He loves the outdoors and is an avid hiker, back packer and skier. He moved to Colorado in 2013 to pursue his dream of working and living in a small mountain community.
On April 30, he went out for a late season snow mobile trip in the mountians near Vail, Colorado and was in a serious accident. He was riding near Ptarmigan pass in white out conditions when his sled veered from the trial and went off 40' Cornice. His close friend called for rescue and then made the hour long hike to reach Stefan. Together they waited several hours for the rescue team to reach their location. He sustained six serious (compound) fractures in his left leg and underwent extensive surgical repair.
As well as significant medial expenses, he will be unable to work during the 16-20 week recovery period. I am hoping that we can raise enough money to support him through this difficult time.
He is positive and hopeful he can work hard and recover quickley. He isn't the kind of person to ever ask for help and realizes that many people are in a much worse position, so I am setting this up for him.
Any and All proceeds above our target will be donated to Vail Mountain Rescue. This is the group of voluteers risk their lifes to rescue my brother and for which we are deeply grateful.
