Help Donna Mitchell Keep Her Home ❤

St. Donna Mitchell of Madison Heights is what I like to call her, because of the enormous amount of good she and her family does for us and our surrounding communities. If you are struggling or homeless in the city, then you might know her better than anyone around, because every year Donna and her partner George help literally HUNDREDS of families in need. Let's take a look at the impact they had in 2019 alone... On Easter Donna hosted an egg hunt with over 1000 people in attendance. Donna put together donations to make 409 Baskets to give to the children who attended. These baskets included more than 400 crafts total of 3,672 items. Volunteers from Gospel Life Church worked with Donna to fill and hide 10,000 eggs for this annual family activity. They also provided 400 cookies for the kids to decorate. In June Donna and George planted a Blessings Box Food Pantry in their front yard that they refill 2-3 times a day, paid for out of their own pockets, and with the help of some donations of other kind neighbors. For Halloween this year they collected 300 costumes for the community children who could not afford costumes. What was not taken she gave to the city ECC Board costume swap, and even volunteered her time to work the second event to make sure every kid got a costume and left happy. During this time she also collected enough candy to give to 24 elderly neighbors so that they could pass out candy and experience the joy of having trick or treators at their door on Halloween. For Thanksgiving in 2019 Donna and George created baskets to serve dinner to 35 families. 35 turkeys, 350 sides, 20 gallons of milk, 20 cartons of eggs, and 20 packages of butter filled the tummies of families in need because of their generosity. Every Christmas Donna and George host a spectacular light show on their property to collect donations and sell baked goods to help families that cannot afford to give their families Christmas. This year they helped 18 families with 47 children receive 423 gifts. They were also able to provide these families with the ingredients to enjoy Christmas dinner by gifting them 14 hams, 4 turkeys, 144 sides, and even tossed in an additional 16 bags of personal care items. On top of this Donna collects and provides countless numbers of food boxes through out the year,12 this past month alone. To say that the underserved in our community would be lost without Donna would be the understatement of the century. In between all of this Donna and her family donated their time to support other city organizations like the Arts Board Pumpkin Walk, and the donation drives to help the homeless held by the #oneatatime Community Response Team. Why am I giving you all of these stats? Well friends and neighbors, this time it is Donna and George who need our help. Earlier this year Donna and George, who work as contractors flipping homes, were stiffed by one of their clients, causing them to lose thousands of dollars that went unpaid long after they finished the job. This made it difficult for them to catch up on bills, and put them behind a great deal. The Mitchell's are now in danger of losing their home. We need to come together to help them in any way we can. All year long Donna and her family give of themselves to make sure the HUNDREDS of underserved families in our community don't go without. Without their help we will create an astronomical crater sized gap where the needs of the underserved in our community are currently being met. Our city has a population of right around 30,000. If we all gave $0.30 each we could tackle this problem for them in a heartbeat and Donna George could go on to help more and more. We need Donna and George and their huge hearts and generosity. With as much good as they do in the community, Donna and George have a hard time asking for help for themselves. With their permission I have created this GoFundMe because I know our neighbors are aware of the impact they have on our city, and the communities around us. I know we will not let them down. I would like to raise $9,000 to help them cover their delinquent bills and legal fees to help them get back on their feet. Any money raised outside of this fundraiser will go towards helping Donna and George continue to help families in need. If you are able to give any amount, please do so with a full heart. We are a community of people who band together in times of need. Let's help the family who goes out of their way to help so many others. Thanks in advance.
