Our three year old Corgi recently got into our mother's medicine bag. She just flew in to visit from Florida, and at the airport, they had to inspect her medication bag, they didn't close up one of the vials up all the way resulting in a spill inside her luggage.
As she arrived in California, she was trying to sort out her luggage, Meeko our corgi somehow got a hold of some of the pills which were Hydralazine which reduces blood pressure. However my wife (I was at work) didn't catch any of this until Meeko started acting funny pacing back and forth, so she took him outside. Not too long after he did his business, he froze up and had a seizure. My wife frantically yelled for help which a neighbor was able to keep an eye on him while she ran to get the car keys and rush him to the vet and then to the 24hr animal hospital.
After some fluid therapy and a 24hr stay, Meeko was able to come home. We're so happy to have him back, a lot of friends and family knows that Meeko is our life. It was the most stressful thing to go through knowing our little baby was at the animal hospital.
We would do anything for Meeko, spare no expense, but the sad reality is that it does come with a hospital bill that affects our lives. The bill racked up nearly to $2000, and this week we had to cancel our family vacation. We planned on taking Meeko and his brother Mochi the cat to San Francisco for their first vacation. However with the bill and budget, we're just going to stay home for vacation. We're just happy to be home with our two fur babies safe and sound.
We need help to pay for this medical bill, anything would definitely help us. We're not the type of family to ask for this kind of help, but this definitely hit us where it hurts. And if for some reason we exceed our goal, I would like to donate the rest of the money to Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue who is a Southern California local organization who helps find homes for Corgis who need love and support.
