On Friday, June 10 around 6:30pm, Kevin was riding his bicycle home from work, when he was hit by a drunk driver.
About two years ago, Kevin started cycling as a way to improve his health. He rode on the weekends and eventually 5 miles to and from work on a daily basis. Kevin rarely missed a day, even battling inclement weather. He was truly dedicated to his health and learned to love his rides, no matter the distance.
When Kevin was hit last Friday, his world was turned upside down. He is a loving husband, son, father and grandfather and has many people counting on him pulling through this tragedy.
Kevin was admitted to the hospital with a crushed pelvis, broken leg, a broken neck (in two places) and many other issues. He has been medically sedated since Sunday and finally endured his first surgery on Wednesday, 6/15.
The surgery lasted approximately 12 hours and was spent removing fragments of his pelvis and, to quote the doctors, "putting together a puzzle".
Kevin is far from out of the woods and has a long road ahead of him. He is currently in ICU and when finally moved from there will spend many weeks in the hospital.
We are starting this page to help Kevin and his wife, Tracie, with some of their recurring monthly expenses (i.e. mortgage, utilities, food, etc.)
We would be so gracious if you would like to help.
