Stay Strong My Son

Hello my name is Robert Samuel, some may know me some may not. I am here today to share a story of my sons sickness and he's long journey to recovery, my son(Robert junior) 6 years of age, had developed sickness which began back in September 28 2023.Robert is a boy who was born in campbelltown hospital in the year 2017, he is smart, likes sports, has siblings older and younger, likes video games also followers Rugby league(NRL) he's favourite team is the Canberra raiders but his favourite player is Latrell Mitchell who plays for the South Syndey Rabbitohs.

Robert Junior has attend two public schools within 2years due to travel distances, Robert attended kindergarten at a school called St Andrews public school, which he then moved on to year 1 in the year 2023, half way through term 3 due to travel distance We decided to transfer Robert to a school much closer To home which he now attends a school called Thomas acres public school.

Throughout term 3 having just started a new school Robert was able to develop new friends, Robert said he enjoyed his new school and will always look forward to going the next day, having attended a couple weeks at he's new school, coming to the last week of school, Robert came home with a face that looked extremely hot was not feeling the best and felt sleepy.

At this stage I didn't think much of it so I just gave him some medication such as nurofen, hoping to see results Robert insisted that he was not feeling well so we opted for him to stay home, considering there was only 3 days left of school before 2 week holiday.

So we kept him home the next day , then the next day, then the next, realising that he had missed the last 3 days of term 3 before school holidays because he was not 100%.

As time went bye days of days with only sleeping Robert junior, would not eat would drink a little bit of drink and go back to sleep, mind you I am giving him nuerofen for pain relief, after 1 week we had noticed that he has been losing weight because he wasn't eating, so we visited the GP only to be told, that it wasn't anything major, At this point Robert had developed serious head aces would always complain that he has a sore head, even going to the GP just to be notified that it's nothing serious just keep giving him panadol for relief, so we followed the GPs advice.

Coming to the the date of October 5 he was still getting head aces that felt like his head was getting pounded over and over ,so we decided to take him to the hospital to see if we can seek more medical advice.as time went bye waiting at the hospital for 4-5 hours Robert gets sent home with no prescribed medication only to also keep giving him panadol.

Over night Roberts Mum noticed that he's left arm was not functioning, we were confused, we were distressed we didn't know what to do, Robert was crying, Robert stumbled as he tried to gain pressure in he's legs to be able to stand, at this point we were worried so we visited the hospital once again just 24 hours later after visiting the hospital.

At 3am in the morning we go back to the hospital to seek more advice, first we see the triage nurse who was more concerned due to Robert inability to have any form of movement to he's left side of his body. The nurse then seeked the Emergency doctor to seek advice, at the time the nurses had thought that Robert may have had a stroke, mind you he is only 6 years of age having a stroke so young should not be common or normal but it is very rare so the nurse says.

Robert was then rushed to resus where he then was greeted by atleast another 5 doctors who went straight to work to see what's is going on with Robert, after X-rays and body examinations the Doctors had discovered an abscess that was spreaded along the inside of hes skull which was causing the major head aces, after discovering the sickness , Robert was then transferred to children's hospital in Randwick where he would seek surgery for this issue.

We arrive at the children's hospital, as time went bye Robert was then transferred to the surgery room, as hours went bye Roberts surgery was a success BUT it was upheld as the doctors had found out that his brain had developed swelling which was pushing up against he's skull which was the cause of hes illness. In order for the swelling to reduce the doctors had to leave out a part of Roberts skull to eliminate any harm to come to the brain. But we are taking baby steps towards he's long awaited journey to recovery and it starts today..

As a casual base income earner I write to you today for a plea of good faith, please help me and my family as we go through this hard time by donating to my sons long awaited journey who is likely to miss out on this year's Christmas,

But please only donate what you can anything is much appreciated, THANK YOU and God bless
