Stay strong Frank
I'm not sure there is a "good" way to go about posting about this but we need the people in our life to know; we need advice, and we need every positive vibe we can get sent our way.
My friend Frank( Beth housband) has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer (that has started spreading to his liver). Today he started chemo at Memorial Sloan Kettering!
We need to talk about it, we do not want anyone to feel uncomfortable in any way and we definitely do NOT want anyone to shy away from us about it.
Frank is only 38 (average age at diagnosis is closer to 70) and healthy otherwise but started getting annual MRIs because of his father and younger brother getting pancreatic cancer. Last year's scan was "perfect", this year's was not.
This has been, hands down, one of the darkest months of our lives. We have been completely overwhelmed with the bad news about both Frank and his younger brother BUT we have ALSO been overwhelmed in waves of positivity from the outreach of our loved ones near and far. This journey has only just begun and I already don't know how we'll ever thank you enough!!
I'm blessed to have brilliant friends who have been instrumental in getting everything off to a great start. One in particular is one of my best friends from high school who has grown up to be not only an oncologist but one who specializes in GI cancers. Lauren's expertise and guidance for both Jonathan's and now Frank's diagnoses has been absolutely priceless.
Another is one of my best friends from college who has her doctorate in biomedical engineering. Jessi has told us things before the doctors have and helped us wrap our brains around so many things.
I can't even begin to name all of the amazing loved ones from all realms of our life who have already helped or offered to help us in so many ways!! There are no words for the depth of our gratitude!!!
There's too much to say in one post but we will be starting a healthcare blog for updates.
