Welcome to the Stay Gjerde Fund in honor of a true friend who impacted many, Michael Renae Gjerde.

Tragedy occurred in the form of a car crash on December 5, 2024, when Michael went to heaven on his way back home from Key West.

Since then, a void has been left in many hearts of both family and friends, especially Tom and Sue, his beloved parents, who watched over many of Michael’s friends.

This was evidenced in the overwhelming turnout at his celebration of life on January 18, 2025, at Coral Isles Church. Many speakers came forward to express their gratitude for the time they spent with Michael.

“Stay Gjerde” stickers were made in his remembrance for that day. My name is Ray Jobi, a childhood friend, and with the help of others, this fund is a continuation of that ideal. It will reach the special places in the Florida Keys where Michael left his mark. In these places, items will be named, mementos, and plaques will be left to inscribe Michael’s place in the community.

Please join us in spreading the word about Michael’s fund and help transcribe his place in the Florida Keys community. The goal is to unveil these items in November 2025 around Thanksgiving. As always, remember to “Stay Gjerde”, appreciate nature, adopt kindness, and be a friend to those in need.
