Baby Joi’s Journey

On September 17th, our daughter Joi made her entrance into the world far earlier than expected—at just 24 weeks and 4 days. She is tiny but mighty, and she’s already showing us her strength every single day. While we are endlessly grateful for her life and the care she’s receiving, this unexpected early arrival has placed us in a long, difficult journey we could have never fully prepared for.

Because Joi came so early, we never got the chance to have a maternity experience or a baby shower. We suddenly found ourselves living in San Francisco to be close to her at the hospital, while our home is over an hour away. Driving back and forth daily isn’t realistic with the cost of tolls, parking, and gas, and bringing a car into the city comes with expensive fees. Instead, we’ve had to rely on hotels, Ubers, flights for Dad, and eating out regularly—expenses that add up quickly when you’re away from home for weeks and months at a time.

While we had savings set aside, this journey is far longer than we imagined. Every little bit of support will help ease the financial strain so we can focus on what matters most: being present for Joi. Funds will go directly toward:

• Hotel and travel costs so we can stay close to her during this critical time ✈️

• Food expenses while living away from home

• Baby supplies and items from Joi’s registry

• Preparing for her eventual homecoming after a long NICU stay

Doctors say Joi may not come home until she’s closer to her original due date, which could mean she’s nearly 4 months old but still the size of a newborn. We have a long road ahead, but we believe in her, and we are so thankful for every prayer, every message, and every bit of support from our village.
