Help Us Create a Memorial for Blue – Dorchester’s Beloved Train Station Cat
If you ever visited Dorchester South train station or Brewery Square, there’s a good chance you met Blue.
Blue was a beautiful Maine Coon cross Norwegian Forest Cat with the biggest personality and an even bigger heart. She wasn’t just a family pet—she became a friend to an entire community.
She adored spending her days at the train station, greeting commuters, accepting cuddles from anyone willing to stop, and sometimes even walking people part of the way home. She became such a familiar face that she gained her own Facebook page, “Blue the Dorchester Train Station Cat,” where hundreds of people shared photos, stories, and memories of their encounters with her.
Blue also loved exploring Brewery Square and became a regular visitor to local businesses, including Hobbs, Nando’s, Premier Inn, Creams, and many other shops, restaurants, and hotels. She brought smiles to so many faces, and people would often look forward to seeing her on their journeys.
Tragically, on Thursday, 15 January 2026, at around 9:50 pm, Blue’s life was cut far too short. At just 2 years old, only weeks away from turning 3, she was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run and left at the side of the road.
Thankfully, another passing driver stopped, cared enough to help, and rushed Blue to the veterinary hospital. Despite every effort, her injuries were too severe, and she sadly didn’t survive.
While our hearts are broken, we are incredibly grateful that Blue brought so much happiness to so many people during her short life. Reading everyone’s memories and seeing the love the community had for her has been an enormous comfort.
To honour Blue’s memory and the joy she brought to Dorchester, we hope to commission a statue of her to be placed at the train station she loved so much. A kind local artist has generously offered to create the memorial, and we would love to make this tribute a reality.
If Blue ever made you smile, brightened your day, or if you’ve simply been touched by her story, we would be so grateful for any donation, no matter how small. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you for helping us ensure that Blue’s legacy lives on, so future generations can remember the little cat who made a whole town smile.
