Static is a short psychological drama about young sound engineer Noah, whose world
revolves around sound and music, until he begins to lose his hearing.
As his tinnitus worsens and his career starts to slip away, Noah’s sense of identity
unravels. What begins as a story about sound becomes one about silence, control, and
acceptance. Across a few days, we follow Noah through the chaos of a failed live gig, a
devastating diagnosis, and the breakdown of his relationships with his loved ones.
Desperate to stay in control, he retreats into his studio, surrounding himself with wires,
waveforms, and light, trying to see and feel sound when he can no longer hear it.
At its heart, Static is a story about losing the thing that defines you, and learning to find
meaning in the quiet that follows.
We want to create a film that feels immersive and emotionally raw, where the audience
experiences the world exactly as Noah does. This film is important because so many of
us tie our worth to what we do - to our productivity, our achievements, and the “noise”
we make in the world. Static explores what happens when that noise stops. It’s a film
about burnout, identity, and learning to find comfort in stillness, themes that feel deeply
relevant to young creatives today.
How You Can Help:
We’re crowdfunding to help cover:
• Location and equipment costs
• Set and costume design
• Music and sound design (a key part of the story)
• Expenses for our small cast and crew
Every donation — no matter the size — helps us tell this story the way it deserves to be
told.
We’ve successfully crowdfunded before, raising over £700 for our last short film, and
we’re determined to make Static our most ambitious and meaningful project yet.
Help us bring Noah’s story to life. A story about sound, silence, and what it means
to lose yourself, only to start listening again
