Relife for Hurrican Irma on Statia
My name is Deann Bauer Young. I was born on St. Eustatius, a small Island in the Dutch Caribbean. Although I am currently living in the United States I have both family and dear friends on the Island. I actually just returned from a trip there two weeks ago. St. Eustatius is my home. In the early morning hours of Sept. 6, 2017 Hurricane Irma ravaged the Island of St. Eustatius (Statia).
Homes were damaged:Businesses destroyed:
Our shorelines forever changed:
Our hospital severely damaged:
Patients needing dialysis are without. Patients in need of simple medications are without. Patients in need of care are without.
Statia is a small island measuring approximately 11 square miles. Our community is strong, our hearts are bigger! We will rebuild, we will help those in need, we house those without. We love and come together in time of need. But we need your help! There are many without the funds to rebuild. Our food supply which comes from St. Maarten (who was also severely damaged, more than Statia) and Miami Florida (who is now facing the wrath of Irma) is at a standstill. We are now rationing what we have. It is going to be an uphill battle. And now we brace for Hurricane Jose:on the same devastating path.
The funds raised will go directly to the people of Statia. I understand other Islands have been hit and are in dire need of help as well. There is little talk of Statia and our pain. We need your help as well.
Please help us and we will rebuild to be the Golden Rock of the Caribbean

Our history is important:https://youtu.be/bW21bTp1gy8
Our future is in need of your help. At this time there is no estimation of the cost to rebuild, there is no word as when we will begin receiving supplies. All I can do is try and raise money and awareness for the needs of our beloved people on Statia. Any donation is welcome: supplies to rebuild, clothing, food, supplies for our pets and livestock, faith, prayers and love. I will continue to update this as I receive word on where to send your donations other than monetary.
*Please note - I'll be personally withdrawing the funds and sending them to St. Eustatius.
