Stathis (Steve) Fillis

My name is Nicholas Fourie and I'm trying to help my family fundraise for my uncle, Stathis (Steve) Fillis.

My uncle is currently in hospital in Greece after arriving there from Canada where he lived, to be with family. He is due to be discharged and because he has no where to stay in Greece as his family there do not have the facilities to accomodate him. Consequently he is returning to Zimbabwe, his Country of birth to be with his sister, my mother.

He is suffering from adenocarcinoma which unfortunately has spread

He has to have dialysis three times a week as he no longer has kidney function.

One session of dialysis costs USD180 in Zimbabwe.

We are in a quandary as he has no medical insurance nor any personal funds as they were depleted in Canada paying off his medical bills for medications and medical procedures.

In addition to his cancer, he also suffers from heart failure and bladder complications.

The dialysis removes the excess fluid from his body which confines him to bed, unfortunately.

Once in Zimbabwe, he will also require a nurse aid, which is also costly in itself.

His sister, my mother, does not have the requisite finances to look after her brother and the dialysis sessions that will have to be undertaken.

It is heartbreaking that all his life, he has been giving and kindhearted, yet in his hour of need, its basically impossible to return the kindness due to the cost of of his impending treatment on arrival in Zimbabwe.
