Stasy's Heart Transplant

Hi! My name is April Fisher.  My best friend of 35 years, Stasy Puff, is in need of our help.  Stasy has advanced heart failure and currently has a lvad (left ventricular assist device).  That device is keeping her alive until she can have a life saving heart transplant.  Due to Stasys high antibody count, she has to relocate to a facility that can list her on the national heart transplant list.  Stasy currently lives in Grand Haven, Michigan and her local transplant center is unable to handle her case due to the antibodies.  Through much research and advice from her doctors, she has been referred to Nashville Tennessee at Vanderbilt Medical Center for a heart transplant.  Stasy will need desensitization to hopefully bring down her antibodies to match a donor heart.  There is many pieces that go into matching a donor but the antibodies are her biggest hurdle at this point.  Vanderbilt Medical is the number one heart transplant center in the world!  Stasy and her tribe have full confidence that this is where she needs to be.

We are raising funds to help alleviate the financial burden on Stasy so she can focus on maintaining her strength for transplant and the recovery post op.  The money raised will help pay for 1) the relocation costs as she will need to rent an apartment close to the hospital.  Nashville rent, like every where, is very expensive. Stasy and Sydney will need to be in Nashville for a year after transplant and the time leading up to her heart transplant.  This could be a long time. 2) any medical costs not covered by her insurance and some prescriptions with high copays 3) traveling expenses for immediate family to help care for Stasy  4)Sydney, Stasys daughter has decided she will go with her mom to care for her and help her as Stasy cannot live on her own with her lvad and will need a lot of support after transplant.  Sydney may not be able to work if Stasy needs someone around the clock or if so, will only be able to work part time.  5) any incidentals that may come up during this journey.
