Hello, my name is Eric macIntosh, and I am the president of the "Commissary Accessibility Marina Park Society" (CAMPS).
This society has acquired lands and an adjacent water lot on the north half of Commissary Island, located at #2 Victoria Street Shelburne. Many know it for the gravel boat ramp located there. We intend to build a 100% public marina, boat ramp and public park at this location while maintaining the natural growth and ecosystem as much as possible. This non-profit project is designed to be 100% accessible to every area citizen, regardless of mobility issues. The docks will allow for a 5 to 10 degree access angle for wheelchair and mobility-impaired persons. The park will extend the island's length and have a walking trail and many picnic sites for people to relax and enjoy the scenic location in the middle of Shelburne and on Shelburne Harbour. The marina will have room to accommodate small craft up to 30', small trailer-able vessels, paddle craft, and row boats. The site will accommodate trailer parking and short-term storage in the middle of the town on the harbour's shores.
The site will also be able to safely accommodate Cruise Ship passenger launches to encourage cruise ship arrivals and passenger tourism spin-offs.
The site will be a great leisure and recreational opportunity for all. This is intended to be an open site for public use. We wish to develop this to be a people and pet-friendly site.
We are in the early stages of development and are looking for public and commercial donations to assist in this effort. Please donate to help get this public space up and running.
We are also looking for local citizens to join our Society and have a say in developing this community environment. Society membership is $25.00 per person and $50.00 per family. Please contact Eric at [email redacted] for membership.
