I'm a Canadian retiree who's fundraising for a trilogy of low-budget dark fantasy Indie films. I am trying to raise the money in traditional ways, but on occasion people may ask if they can donate "beyond" that. Hence, my venture on GoFundMe.
THE BEECROFT SERIES
I'm well along in the usual outreach to talent, sales agents, financiers and distributors. While, the stories are fully costed-out and scheduled, with some pretty solid sales forecasts, producers and the above parties were interested but held back because I don't have any initial capital.
The stories - the first three of (so far) five that are written - are a bit like Harry Potter in that kids are the key characters, but the stories are edgier. Imagine if production companies A24/Blumhouse were tasked with producing Harry: The resulting films would still be about kids, but would be darker, smaller scale, and be rated PG-13. I've worked hard to keep them under an R-rating to to get kids' into theatre seats.
I have a free eBook offer (the first story), and people can then purchase the entire series to help fund my initial capital goal - which is "as much as possible", as there is no minimum or maximum.
