Starting Over: Ira’s Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
My name is Ira Jewell, and for many years, I struggled with addiction. I started using when I was 23, and now at 50, I am proud to say that I am approaching two years clean this July. My journey through addiction cost me everything—my home, my belongings, and at my lowest point, I was sleeping in the woods. Recovery has been the hardest thing I have ever done, but it has also been the most rewarding.

Recently, I made the difficult decision to start over in a new town, far from the environment that contributed to my addiction. I don’t have any family here, but I am determined to build a new life focused on sobriety and growth. To do that, I need some help getting on my feet. I am seeking support for transportation so I can find and keep a job, attend weekly NA/AA meetings, and stay connected to my recovery community. I also need help with clothes for job interviews, work, and church, as well as basic household items to create a safe and stable home.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read my story. Your support means more than words can express. I am asking for help so I can continue moving forward and avoid returning to the life I left behind. With your encouragement and generosity, I believe I can create a new, successful chapter in my life. Thank you for being part of my journey.
