In the late evening of Wednesday, September 1st our family was evacuated from our home due to the quickly escalating threats of Hurricane Ida. With just twenty minutes allotted to gather our belongings and get out the door, we unfortunately were forced to leave our home largely unprotected and a majority of our possessions behind. The outcome has been detrimental to our family with our entire basement and first floor being flooded and all contents destroyed. The most upsetting piece has by far been the loss of a majority of our 9-month-old son Leandro's belongings including his changing table, pack-and-play, clothing, toys, playpen, diapers, baby monitor, medicine, food and more.
We are now unable to ever return to our first family home and are temporarily residing with our parents as we look to rebuild and gather necessities - a journey we appreciate many within the larger Philadelphia and Philadelphia-suburb community are experiencing as well.
This is such a terribly uncomfortable request to make to our community but we are also unfortunately uninsured renters due to the overwhelming number of priorities - and underwhelming hours of sleep - since becoming pregnant, moving, raising a newborn and both working full-time jobs over the last 12 months.
We so appreciate the grace those reading this may find for our family and any financial contribution you are kind enough to make in support of us. Our priority is on rebuilding the necessities for our Leandro with the funds collected here. If you alternatively are not able to give financially but perhaps you yourself or friends have furniture or baby items to sell at a small price or donate, that would also be incredibly appreciated by our family.
