Starting Over at 77: Support Luqman and Jane Katz
Donation protected
This fundraiser is in support of our dear friends Jane and Luqman Katz, who lost their home in Altadena, Los Angeles in a wildfire on January 8th, 2025. Please kindly find a heartfelt message from their family below.
As two loving and retired grandparents this home was an important gathering place for friends and family and a repository for irreplaceable and centuries-old family furniture from each of their grandparents and 13 pieces of wooden furniture handmade by Luqman, as well as the tools with which those were created. At 77 years old, with these physical connections to the past now gone, Luqman and Jane are entering this wholly unexpected chapter of starting over again from scratch.
They managed to evacuate safely but with only the clothes on their backs, therefore, we have created this site in response to those who’ve asked how they may offer some support as Luqman and Jane stabilize their lives on this nascent journey. As a local teacher, a woodworker and active community members, Luqman and Jane have touched many people’s lives and are loved by many.
All contributions will go directly to them to cover essential items and costs not met by insurance. We hope that if able, you will consider donating to them at this time. Luqman, Jane, and their entire family thank you. We are all praying for everyone affected by these devastating fires. With love and gratitude!
